Chapters 45-47 (Emma)

BOstan Said...
I vastly enjoyed and loved these chapters, they bring together a perfect mistake gone wrong. The whole of Mr. Knightley going away, Frank's Aunt dying , Jane turning ill, Emma trying to be a better friend to Jane, and the whole truths lead to a disastrous end. All leading to lies, betrayal and truths. I found it wonderfully written and over something i still can't believe that Mr. Churchill and Jane Fairfax to be together, how he treated her ill and though i must admit he was and must have felt ever bit bad for doing it, and i think it was good of him to come out with the truth to his father and the Bates. He shows courage then, if he did not have it till that moment. I loved each chapter and cannot wait to read tomorrows sorrows and blessings.

Lain Said........

I immensely enjoyed these chapters!!! They made me laugh constantly. Everything is just kind of coming undone!!!! The aunt died (which I must say, is for the better), and truths were constantly becoming uncovered!!! I myself can not hardly believe that Jane and Mr. Churchill are together!!! What a shock!!!!It just puts my resolve that Jane is good, and Mr. Churchill is a fiend, more so than ever!!! To treat her so!!!! Horrible man!!!!! hehehehe (Sorry I could not help myself) Anyway, I think these chapters really gave a good account of how things can go wrong, and how you do not notice things until others bring them out!!! I am kind of glad that Emma is so distressed!! It is only right that she be so, for she put herself in this mess by her lonesome!!! I loved these chapters and can't wait to read more!!!

Chapter 42-44 (Emma)

Bostan Said........

I really enjoyed these chapters, they were fun, interesting, and silly. The whole part on trying to go to Box Hill and then settling on Donwell. Mr. Knightley was actually being nice to Mrs. Elton and invited her so she could have her fun, though i think it was mostly because he is friends with Mr. Elton. (We'll they are a little, every one has to be friends with the clergy) And it goes on in detail about the party and many details that i won't go on about but i liked. I liked how Mr. K had Mr. Woodhouse entertained. And then their is the party at Box Hill which i loved! Mr. Churchill is a very agreeable person but i think he is anxious and Emma is tired of being stood up and watching him be pulled around by his aunt and commented all of the time. Though i still like him alot. And the things that Emma said to Miss. Bates!! They were very witty and funny, but they just should not have been said. I was very glad when Mr. K told her about her doing wrong, she needed it. Every one has to be put in their place sometime and i feel he didn't have very much time to do so because he said he had to do while he could. Though to end a good ending Emma made up with Miss. Bates and i am liking Jane much more but i wish i could like her better. Can't wait to read more.....

Lain Said............

I really enjoyed these chapters also. I really liked the party where they were at Donwell Abby. I thought it was a very good chapter, and they all seemed to enjoy it very well. I agree with with Mr. Knightley on that Emma was very mean to Miss Bates. I did feel indefinably bad for her. She can't help it, and I thought it very mean of Emma to say such a thing to her. I later did agree with Emma though. I did think that Box Hill was a complete failure. It was funny to read about though. I really do like Jane, I have from the beginning. I am glad that Emma is likening her better.... I am also glad that she and Miss Bates are on good terms. I feel bad for Jane, to be forced to go somewhere. I think it is horrible, and NONE of Mrs. Elton's business. Well I can't wait to read more.

Chapters 39-41 (Emma)

Bostan Said......

These chapters were a bit shorter, but none the less good. I found great amusement in the adventure with Harriet and the Gypsies. I can image her being frightened, I would be, but as her friend I would not have left her as her friend did. But i am also glad Mr. Churchill rescued her, and he must have found great amusement in doing so. And I think it is very big of Emma to hold back her ideas and suspicions. I always like the burning of the precious items, love it in every movie and the book. It is always comical of Harriet. I like her. And I also liked the last chapter, mostly it reflected Mr. Knightley's ideas and suspicions though as all of Jane Austen's books he is around women. Their is no scene with out the female voice or appearance. Mr. Knightley is very keen on not liking Frank. It is funny that he doesn't like him because he is the reasonable one who tries to at least vouch for someone.
Next chapters soon to come, loved them so far....

Lain Said.......

I really enjoyed these chapters even though they were on the short side. I have to say that I also found amusement in Harriet's meeting with the Gypsies. I think that Mr. Churchill enjoyed it, maybe a little to much. I am liking him less and less threw out the book. I was upset that he was teasing Miss Fairfax so!!! I think he is going to far with his teasing. I am curious how he did know about Mr. Perry and the carriage, I think it has something to do with Jane Fairfax telling him somehow. I am now with Mr. Knightley in his opinion of Mr. Churchill, and of a mutual understanding between him and Miss Fairfax.... I am very curious to see how this all turns out. I can't wait!!!!

Chapters 36-38 (Emma)

Bostan Said......

I enjoyed these three chapters immensely. I thought it was very good of Mr.Weston to try to be agreeable to Mrs. Elton. (well he is very agreeable all of the time which i like him for it) And i am so happy that he is always happy at his sons coming, i just really like him. I wish i knew someone like him. I do. And It was happy news that Frank is coming back, i didn't know if he was going to come back in the book or not. But i was surprised that he didn't spend more time with Emma. But all the while she is observing him and trying to think of a way to let him down easier. Though she is comforted to observe that he is less "in love with her." And i really liked the Ball at the crown Chapter immensely. I really enjoyed it! With Mr. and Mrs. Westons Agreeable ways, Emma's charming self, Frank's running about, Miss. Bates Talking on (though i do like babbling), Jane's soft self, Mrs. Elton's pushy self, Harriet's sweet nature, and Mr. Knightley's aim not to dance. I really liked the part when Mr.Knightley asks Harriet to dance. It was just so sweet!!!! I remember in one of my favorite movies Clueless how they made that scene between Mr. Knigtley (Josh) and Harriet (Tai), it just made me think of that. I also was glad Mr. Knightley decided to dance more than once, because i was thinking about going into the book and making him dance another time with someone. Well i liked these chapter again (well of course i did) and can't wait to read more.

Lain Said...........

I also liked these chapters. I do admit that I don't think that I could tolerate Mrs. Elton as well as Mr. Weston does. I have already acquired a deep dislike for her, and it deepened when she was encouraging her husband to hurt Harriet so!!!! I felt so bad for her, but then was so happy that Mr. Knightley saved her!!!!!! He just keeps rising in my opinion!!!! I liked that he asked (well sort of) Emma to dance, I think it is suggesting something further for later in the book. I think it is wonderful.... I have to say I don't like Mr. Churchill as much this time... I hope he does something to raise my opinion of him once again, but if he does not, oh well. I also thought Miss Bates' rambling was hilarious. I think she is a really sweet person, but yet if I had to deal with her in real life, I don't know if I could trust myself to think of her as kindly as I do now.. hehehehe. Well I liked these chapters and look forward to tomorrow's reading....

Chapter 33-35 (Emma)

Bostan Said.........

I really liked these chapters again. I thought it was funny how Mrs.Elton is developing. Now she calls Mr. Knightley, Knightley and is taken a fancy to Jane. Poor Jane, but she does handle it well and she does get more attention. I am not her number one supporter but i do feel bad for her. And i liked very, very much the conversation with Mr.Knightley and Mrs. Weston and Emma. I liked it as one of my favorite. Mr. Knightley blushes.

And i did think it was well of Harriet to stay home, it would have been worse if she had gone to the party. And i loved the party chapter, i was very happy with Mr. John K, and surprised by Mr. Weston's arriving at the party after the diner. I don't know how he could have done it all. But i can't wait to read the following chapters.

Lain Said............

I really liked this chapter also. I myself felt badly for Miss Fairfax. I don't think I would have dealt half as well with Mrs. Elton's attention as she does. How she insisted so!!!!! And I would have been so very mad at her for trying to take control of my life. I did feel ever so bad for her, because Mrs. Elton was constantly talking about her as if she was not there!!!!!!! Oh, I have formed a deep disliking for Mrs. "E". Well on a good note, Mr. Churchill is coming back!!!! And so soon, I would never have guessed it! Though I know that his coming will upset Mr. Knightley, which makes me feel bad, for as much as I like Mr. Churchill, I like Mr. Knightley more. I did like to see his inner self with him blushing.... I can't wait to read more!!!!

Chapters- 30-32 (Emma)

Bostan Said..........

I really loved these chapters, and i liked how they went even though there was not ball.
It was sad that Churchill left and there was no ball, but i am sure other characters will fill in the gap. I loved the chapter on Emma thinking herself in love and talking about how much Mr.Churclill was and how she would let him down nicely and they all will be friends. And i really enjoyed the chapter of Mrs. Elton's visit. It was very fair of Emma to give her a second chance, but it was very funny when it didn't go very well. I know many of a Mrs. Elton, and she is very real in my mind. Her nature and mouth affords her no pleasures or rewards. Well i can't wait to read more,

Bostan~

Lain Said.........

I thought these chapters good, but a little sad. I was very sad to see Mr. Churchill leave. I think if he was given more time...... they would have become more attached, and who knows if Emma would have given way to marriage. Who knows.... I did like the chapters on Mrs. Elton. I thought her exceedingly annoying, and thought it hilarious how incensed Emma was becoming toward her. Hilarity in itself indeed. I am sorry to know that she offers little to the society. It would have been nice to have another female character of good humor, added to the story. I dearly hope that Mr. Churchill returns soon, and I can't wait to read more.....

Chapters 27-29 (Emma)

Bostan said.........

I really liked these chapters. For a few chapters we were seeing more of Mr. Churchill than Mr. Knightley but i am glad that he is coming more into the book again. Well i quiet liked the chapter when every one (like Emma, Harriet, Mr. Churchill, Mrs. Weston, And the Bates) were in the same house. And all the conversation was so entertaining i found it to be. And i thought it was very very funny when Mr. Knightley was stopped by Miss. Bates. Their short conversation made me laugh, how everybody heard them! And i also liked how Mr. Churchill came to ask what Emma thought of the ball/dance arrangements. And how they had to convince Mr. Woodhouse into thinking the taking of the Crown a good idea. Can't wait to read more

Lain Said.........

These chapters proved to be very entertaining. I deeply liked the chapter when they were all in the same room. To think that Mr. Churchill hinted so distinctly!!!!! The shame of it!!!!!!!! I can not imagine Miss Jane's embarrassment. I am still fond of Mr. Churchill, but am not quite sure what to make of him, with all his hinting. I am glad they are having a ball, for no Jane Austen novel is complete without a ball in my opinion. Well I can't wait to read more on the matter, and see how Emma, and Frank's dance go........ Till the next three.

Chapters 24-26 (Emma)

Bostan Said.......

I quite liked these chapters, they did well together. The part where Frank goes to get his hair cut was interesting, Jane must have had fun writing that. And the part where Emma is very slighted for not receiving an invitation. I can totally understand, you want the power to decide if you are to go or not. Even if you don't want to go you still want to at least say no. But i really liked the ball chapters. The last chapter (26) was very long but i enjoyed it very much. The conversation between Frank and Emma and Emma and "Miss. Taylor". I find Mr. Frank Churchill likes to talk gossip, but i like him plenty.
And the subject between Mr. Knightley and Jane was absolute and the reasons for believing them together funny.

Lain Said.........

I also liked these chapters. I thought that Mr. Churchill and Emma did well together. I thought them quite the cute couple. I liked Mr. Churchill for his ever optimistic look on life. Though I was a little unsettled when he was showing off with his singing. To think he would have made poor Jane Fairfax sing until she was hoarse, is a horrible thought. I just hope he was ignorant to it. I did think Mr. Knightley the most thoughtful of them all. First with the carriage and then to her singing. I do not think him partial to Jane though.... But we shall all see. I can't wait to read more!!!!

Chapters 21-23 (Emma)

Bostan Said............

I thought these chapters were good. Not my favorite in a chapter grouping, but i thought they were brought out good and were important to the story. The part where everyone got the news of Mr. E's up coming marriage was interesting. I loved the part when Mr. Knightley was about to say it and got interrupted, and i loved the image in my head of Emma's reaction to the news. Love it! And i also am glad that finally Mr. Churchill came, He was brought in differently than in the movie, but nicely at that. Oh and going back a while i am sad for the confused Harriet. She is very swayed. But lovable. Well can't wait to read more tomorrow. Gotta go, bye.

Lain Said...............

(Sorry for this jumbled up review. I had posted one prior to this, but it was deleted somehow, so I don't quite remember what I wrote, or exactly what the chapters were about. I do know that they were among my favorites. So sorry again.)

I think that these chapters were among the more serious in this book, which I think is why I liked them so much. I felt indefinitely bad for Harriet. She was really in love with Mr. Elton, and then her being unhappy about the account of her and Mr. Martin. I felt horrible, but it gave me hope of a further engagement between them. I dearly like Mr. Martin and his family, and think them wonderful people. But I still felt bad for Harriet for she was just so distressed about something. All in all I really liked these chapters, and I believe that I like Mr. Churchill. I am still not quite sure...... Till later....

Chapters 18-20 (Emma)

Bostan Said....

In some parts these chapters were funny. Like for example i loved the visit to the Bates. It was very funny i thought. Emma not wanting to go other than being a friendly visitor and neighbor and Miss. Bate all joy and kindness with much to talk about and a mother who has to hear things repeated over two times to get their meaning. I know Emma must not dislike Miss. Jane as a person, but i think she dislikes the going on about her and all the fuss over one woman. That i think put a strain on her getting closer to her. Well i can't wait to read more...

Lain Said.....

I do have to say that I agree with Emma, on that hearing about a person over and over and OVER again, is truly annoying. Though, I do not think I would have judged her by that. I do say I have to disagree with Emma on her overall opinion of Jane Fairfax. I think her to be a kind person. I think the reason why she is so very reserved is that she does have some secrets, and some things that might be painful for her to talk about. In general, I feel sorry for her, because it really does show that she has in fact had a hard life. Both her parents died, and then she had to live of the good will of others, which to some people makes them feel bad about themselves. So all in all I like this Miss Jane, and hope to hear much more of her in the following chapters!!!!!

Chapter 15-17 (Emma)

Bostan Said...

Well the first chapter for this reading was very well detailed to the contents of a very fun party and the leading in to a devastating proposal. Wow it was the first time that i really realized how Mr. Elton could not have been as in love as he wanted to be with Emma. It was a huge turn in the story and on three sides it was not taken well. Mr. Elton embarrassed and shamed, Emma horrified to have mislead her dear friend, and Harriet's heart broken self. It could have all been speared if Mr. John Knightley went and not forgotten which carriage he belonged to. After i thought it was funny because he tried his best to be accommodating and apologising for his mistake. But i am glad even though Harriet is heart broken she is not or does not blame Emma as to loose their friendship. Emma did mean well, though she messed up very badly on choice of conduct and character.

Lain Said.....

I thought these chapters quite funny. The reason for this is because of Emma's realization process. It was not Mr. Elton's proposal that made her relies, in fact it was her brother-in-laws comment. I thought it hilarious the way she was like, "No he could not possible like me, I mean it is not probable, well maybe....." It is funny how you seem to notice things more when they are brought out. So all that night, poor Emma, who brought it upon herself, even though it was with good intentions, was seeing all the clues that shouted loud and clear, "I want to merry YOU, not your friend." Poor Emma was so confused, especially when he proposed to her in the carriage. Oh it was so funny, yet I felt so bad for all of them, but least of all for Mr. Elton, who truly was in it for the money and society.... But still. I am glad that Harriet took it so well, and hope things go better for her. I can't wait to read more.

Chapters 12-14 (Emma)

Bostan Said....

I liked these chapters again! I liked how Mr.Knightley came to visit and Emma and him made up and are friends again. Mr. Knightley has as much right as to see his sisters and brother as Mr. Woodhouse, but a little less if they were to stay over at his own house. The whole deal with Mr. Woodhouse and his older daughter was so funny to me, they are arguing (in a respectable way) about who's opinion of a man is better. She is so much like her father i think. And it was also funny when the party was attending the Weston's little party. Mr. Elton is acting very strange and it is puzzling Emma so much. She doesn't know what to do.

And i think it is good for her to fancy a guy, and Mr. Churchill is just the man for that. (Even though she has not met him yet)

Lain Said.......

I thought these chapters quite wonderful. I thought it hilarious in there disagreeing. And how Emma was still not caught up to Mr. Knightley in intellect, but she was indeed nearer. It just made me laugh. I could imagine the whole seen in my head. I still can't believe that Emma does not know that Mr. Elton LIKES her!!!! It is hilarious. I guess it is harder to tell when you are expecting one thing, and not the other. It is very comical to me, because all the signs CLEARLY point to him fancying Emma, but she does not see it at all. I also think it is good for to finally like a guy, even though she says she does not want to marry.........

Chapters 9-11 (3 chapter change) (Emma)

Bostan Said....

I really liked these chapters and i was sad that i couldn't read more, but that's a good feeling to be had. To want to read more i mean. I liked the whole riddle chapter, i think it was interesting how they were going about it. And the last two about visiting the sick and Emma's sister who is visiting i also enjoyed. I especially loved the part when the family is talking at the diner table, Now i have a better view on John Knightley. He sounds like a nice gent, and her sister must be lovely. I love how they are described, with ready wit and detail....

Lain Said.......

I was very content with these chapters. Especially with the first two. I thought them very well written, and liked Mr. Elton's riddle on court ship. If only Emma would realize who it was for, and stop so encouraging both Mr. Elton and her dear friend Harriet. I guess nothing is to be done about it for now. I also liked the chapter about her sister coming. She seems sweet, and as Bostan said "lovely". I also like Mr. John Knightley in his own way. He is not my favorite character, but I do like him none the less. I can't wait to read more, and am horribly sorry for my delay.

Chapters 5-8 Emma

Bostan Said....

I love the whole business of this book. Like a lot of J.A Books she has a lot of stages in story's, we are getting quite far into it and more into the twists. I love the character Mr. Knightley, he is one of my favorites and i like him because he is caring but he also cares enough to tell Emma as a friend that she is going to far. He is just what she needs, every one else pretty much lets her get away with everything. I also love Miss. Smith, i know she is not a strong individual but she is sweet, loyal, caring, and she trusts Emma. Poor Emma gets her into trouble i am seeing in more detail. Also i love Miss Taylor/ Mrs. Weston, she is a good friend also, loyal, sweet, and strong. She is also a good reality check for Emma. The whole painting section in the chapter was fun, and the long chapter between Mr. Knightley and Emma was very dialogue'd which was cool. I feel bad for the poor bloke that got refused by Miss. Smith, but i can't fully blame it completely on Emma, Emma really just hinted things and other of that matter. Miss. Smith was the one who took those hints, but if she accepted their would be no story. Their is more but i wont go in to it..

Lain Said...

Jane Austen is a genius!!!!!!! I know, you probably knew that already, but I just wanted to emphasise it. She paints such pictures with words, that you get so engrossed in the book, you are transported back to the 1800's in England!!!! I did really like these chapters, and have to say that I disagree with Bostan on this one, (just a little bit though). I think that Emma is Solely responsible for Miss Smith turning down Mr. Martin... In my belief, Miss Smith would have excepted, and should have excepted. I believe that she really did fancy him, and would have been vastly happy there, being able to visit with his beloved sisters as much as she wanted. Though, I do see what Emma's point was, though I do think her wrong.... If only she knew why Mr. Elton was doing such kind things for Miss Smith..... But she will soon find out. I do like Mr. Knightly, and find my thinking somewhat in tune to his. I really liked these chapters, and can't wait to read more!!!!!

Chapters 1-4 (Emma)

Bostan Said.........
I love Emma, she is a bit high on her pedestal but she really means well and as described by Austen she had the lack of being disciplined. Her father is mostly to be blamed for that but he is a mild person in character and a good father. He is very attentive surprisingly and doesn't like the thought of marriage, which is different for that time period, most parents wanted their kids married and away. I Also agree on the characters they were very well depicted and that is what i take reassurance in. I like illustrated and described characters.

Lain Said..........

I really liked these opening chapters. I thought Austen described the characters perfectly. (This book is going to forever remind me of the night we watched the movie version together, and you kept falling asleep, so we had to finish it in the morning. ;)) Anyway,I think that Emma is kind of a busybody (but in a good way). I feel bad for poor Mr. Martin, he never had a chance against her. She was kind of a snob against him, but that is expected for that time period, social class was of the utmost impotence. I did like these chapters quite well and can't wait to read more...

Overall Rating for "The Ramsay Scallop"

Bostan Said.......
I really liked this book, the characters were very good. Not always one to love them but i liked them even if i wasn't fond of them. Personally i liked Elenor from the beginning but i grew to like Thomas. The only really draw backs were Elenor's age and some of the religion talk. Like in Robin hood i could handle it but some of the religion ideas went a little to varied and gullible for the characters. With Elenor's age i wish she was at least 15 or 16, the age gap is really nothing (I am guessing she is 14 and he is at least 23 to 25) But i just so wish she was a year or two older. That was a draw back, but i really liked this book any way. It was a very good pick! So i give this book a 4/6, i really liked it!

Lain Said.......

I deeply liked this book. I thought it had very realistic and lovable characters. I think all of the characters grew with the story, which is good, because if you read a story and they stay the same, it is not realistic because, people are shaped and molded by the things they undergo. I also like how not every little thing worked out right away. I did how ever like the happy ending. The only thing that I would have changed, is that I wish it told more at the ending. Other than that, I LOVED the book, and would not have changed a thing. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Chapters 28-32 (TRS)

Bostan Said....
I do recommend this book. I liked these chapters they were a little troubling though since anything could have happened. He could have died, she could have been left alone to travel the hard way back, but i am glad everything went well. I am much relived. But i wish the ending was longer, maybe if it had one of those dreaded epilogues. I just wanted to see them return home and finish their adventure. Not their lives but to see them off would have been nice. But i did like how we got conclusion with Martin and the Italian girls, even if the girls never got to say good bye. I really liked this book.

Lain Said.....
I liked these chapters also, although they were not my favorite. I got so worried about Thomas, because it was getting toward the end, so he could have died. I was SO glad he did not. I was sorry to see Martin leave, though I do think it was for the best. I was sad that the story ended so soon. I am glad that they decided to get married. I just wish the story went a little farther, to show us what happened next. Like I wish they told if they did get married there, and if they ever met up with Martin. Oh well, I really enjoyed this book, and am satisfied with it.
I recommend it to all....

Chapters 25-27 (TRS)

Bostan Said.....
I really liked these chapters, they were very good. I really wanted Etienne to stay with them but he had a mission. Yea maybe he was in love with her. Thomas is become nicer and better in my opinion each day, and i can't wait to see what becomes of him. I wasn't so keen on the Italian girls especially Bea, she seems to be not my favorite. And sham on Thomas!!! But i really think Elenor should have not climbed the steps. I think it wasn't worth it and a was of effort, i just don't get why it had to be done. And Thomas should have not let her go, but it was very nice of him to look after her. Can't wait to finish and see what happens.
Lain Said........
Today's reading was VERY good!!!! (I think this book is making it's way into my favorites.) Anyway, I was sad when Etienne had to leave. I really liked him and thought he was very nice. I think in a secret place in his heart, he was in love with Nora. I am glad that Thomas and Nora are getting along so well with each other. I really think they are beginning to love one another. I like the Italian girls that have entered the story, although, I am not happy with Thomas' attraction toward Bea, though I do not think anything will become of it.... I was kind of worried about Nora, and how sick she was after climbing those steps. I am just glad that she is alright now. I can't wait to finish the book tomorrow!

Chapters 22-24 (TRS)

Bostan Said......
Oh i am so glad Elenor is safe and returned back to the crowd of friends. (I say Elenor because we still refer to her as Elenor in the book when she is talking)That was so Funny!!! Yes and Pierre is a decent man i thought, but a bit on the bonkers side of religion. But i won't go into that. I also thought it was funny when Elenor left and Thomas had came to see her (or find her anyways) and they had just missed each other. I suppose Elenor is liking Thomas more and that is good, well we just have to wait and see what happens next!!! But Still Thomas still doesn't know where to place her she is not the "Brat" and not Elenor yet, so we have to wait i guess..
P.S
I am glad that they found Greatheart. (The names a bit like Lionheart)

Lain Said.......

I REALLY like this book!!!! I thought that Pierre was a nice guy, and was glad that he respected her decisions in certain areas.(hehehe) I thought he was a very thoughtful man, and did well in taking care of Elenor. I also thought it SO sweet how worried Thomas was of Elenor, excuse me, Nora. He really is starting to CARE for her. I am glad that they found her puppy, Greatheart, and was so glad that they all were reunited. I thought it sweet that Thomas kissed Nora when he found her. I am also glad that Nora no longer does not want to marry Thomas. I CAN"T WAIT TO READ MORE!!!!!!

Chapters 19-21 (TRS)

Bostan Said......
I did like these chapters. I was seriously going to believe that the fortune teller was telling the truth about Marthe's husband leaving her, and that could have turned the story in another direction, but it was a happy moment when the family met up with him. Happy happy. I found the ending though scary, not really for Elenor (Cause i have a feeling that she is going to be OK) but because i am worried by her getting back to her pilgrimage. But i sort of thought the cliff hanger was daring since it keeps us in suspense. Well now i want to know what happens next...

Lain Said........

I GREATLY enjoyed these chapters. I thought they were touching, yet very exciting also. I was so happy when Marthe found her husband at last!!!! I also thought it endlessly thoughtful of Elenor to sell her horse to help them buy a house. I would have been every bit as devastated as she was... I really like Martin, and thought it sweet of him to get "Nora" a dog to ease her pain. I also think he had very good intentions by letting her go to find her dog, and feel bad for him, because he is feeling pretty bad about it now. I really hope all is alright with Elenor, and am happy that Thomas is showing a greater care about her. I was quite upset when I found that I was at the end of today's chapters. Till tomorrow!!!!!

Chapters 16-18 (TRS)

Bostan Said.......
I thought it was very big of T to give his horse in behalf for water. That was just basically SWEET. And even more so because he didn't want any praise for what he did. And wow he has to watch over all of those people! Wow that is a big job. But i liked the story's that they told, i wish that we got to hear the end of the last one. If i was that girl in the last hero story i wouldn't take all of that obedience, there is a fine line of loyalty and he went over it by taking her children. But i really like the characters, it seems not to just be about Elenor by the background characters getting there own personality's.

Lain Said........

I thought that these chapters were very interesting in there content. I was very worried about what would happen to Thomas, though in my mind I knew nothing serious would befall him. I was just worried about him, and am very glad he got away with basically a waring, and just a short sentence. I also thought it wonderful that Thomas gave his horse for the water for all of the Pilgrims. I like him better and better as the story goes on. I did really like the chapters on Heroes. I thought they made some very good points. I liked how Thomas summed up that one story. It was funny. Can't wait to read more!!!!

Chapters 13-15 (TheRS)

Bostan Said....

Yes i agree with Lain i can't wait to read more. In the book i thought it was very funny of Elenor to buy Thomas a gift. Usually that is how it happens you find something you want to get for someone and then after you feel uncomfortable giving it to him or something. I also thought it was cute when Nana appeared in a barrow. She is amazingly inscribed in my head, i can just see her. Wild white hair (and pink in the light of the fire) and a fresh attitude, but old appearance. I liked the story that she told. I feel though that i have heard of it before. Hummm... I think i have.

Lain Said....

I greatly liked these chapters. I thought it very sweet of Elenor to buy Thomas a book, and for Thomas in return to give her a delicately carved snail shell. I thought the story that they told very spooky, though, I know it could never happen... I greatly like Nana, and am saddened that the last chapter may be the last we hear of her. I am beginning to like Thomas more, because I believe he is becoming wiser, and is liking Elenore more, even though he still refers to her as the "Brat". All in all I thought these chapters quite charming, and can't wait to read more.

Chapters 10-12 (TRS)

Bostan Said...........

I liked these chapters. I especially like Marthe, she seems nice. The chapters seemed to fly by and i find that nice. I was a bit worried when Marthe's baby disappeared i really thought a wolf or something ate him. And when Thomas came back with a bloody scalp, that was a bit worrying, but i completely understand how Elenor took it. I really like her, and i want to like Thomas better. I don't know about him yet, it seems iffy to me... till three chapters later.

Lain Said..........

I was very content with these chapters also. I was very worried when Marthe's child was missing, I thought for sure he was a goner. I was not that pleased with how Elenor dealt with the scalp issue. He had helped her when she fainted, but had not even touched him when he was in pain. I think I like the characters about equally. But might come out with a favorite later..... Till the next post......

Chapters 7-9 (TRS)

Bostan Said......
I liked today's reading, the trip with their new friend and making other friends. I liked the part of the feast and how every one was described. But i thought it was so funny when she fainted and it was nice of Thomas to go to her, but i thought it was basically on instinct and it was so like a boy to through cold water on her. I thought that was funny, nicely done Thomas. It was though sad when the old man dies. I did not expect that, that was sad. And he fell, but i bet he was gone before feeling the impact. That helps a little. Well i can't wait to read tomorrows chapters.
Lain Said.......

Today's reading was good because it really showed how Elenor and Thomas worked with each other. Even though they were not exactly friends, it showed the potential that was there for them to become so. I knew that Elenor should not have gone into that barn alone, and it was for very good reason, the same that we have today, for not going somewhere alone. Anyway, I thought it very sweet how concerned Thomas was for Elenor when he found that she had fainted. It shows that he no longer fully views her as the "Brat", which is a good thing. It was not my favorite of the readings but still very good, and I look forward to tomorrow's reading.

Chapters 4-6 (TheRS)

Bostan Said....

I actually really liked these three chapters. Now we are moving a bit more in the plot but i liked how the two characters Elenor and Thomas play along, they don't get along but i like it. Its not just another first meet love. The trip to the ocean was well described and i like how were going on it then and not being told about it afterwards. I like Elenor and i want to see how she fares on the year or so trip to take the villagers sins and pray for every one. I also really liked the Father Greg. He was really nice for his profession.

Lain Said....

I also liked these chapters also. I think they were very well written. I am happy that they don't get along at first, some of the best loves come from that. I do hope that the book is not TO lovey dovey, but a little, does not hert. I really did like Father Greg. I think he is very thoughtful and kind. I thought that the whole trip to the fair was funny, especially when the exotic bird turned out to be a duck. I laughed. I thought the sea voyage was very realistic, but not to drawn out. I am very happy with the book so far and can't wait to read more.

Chapters 1-3 (The Ramsay Scallop)

Bostan said.......

I thought it opened good, it gave us a chance to get to know Elenor the main female character before everything. The chapters are a good length, not to long and not to short, they do differ. The sets of the town and country side sound really nice and are explained well enough. I want to see what happens next... What happens with Thomas' father???

Lain said.......

I liked the first few chapters and thought that they told a lot about the charters. I liked how they focused on Elenor, but wished we could have learned more about Thomas. I guess that will come with time. I am having a little difficulty visulising Elenor, I don't know what to think of her yet. In time I will of corse. But I did enjoy these chapters as Bostan said, they are not to long, but not to short. Can't wait to read more!!!!!

Over all rating for (Robin Hood)

Title: Robin Hood

Author: Edith Heal

Pages: 626

Bostan's Rating:

This book i think had a flavor of Shakespeare. The wording was like his, but more easily readable, and that was a very cool element. The story was different and so are practically all of Robin Hood legends. This book had a bunch of different story pieces to it not just one main plot but a series of different plots but with a good follow up and a good motive. Some that were happy and some that were sad. This book is completely not one that you can just walk away and not think on it and it had some sad elements to it. And i really liked this book, it was written good and imagined good, i give an over all rating of 5/6. I loved it...

Lain's Rating:

I really enjoyed this book. It is now one of my favorites. It has adventure, but Robin Hood never kills anyone which I appreciated. Some did die though, which did live you saddened, but over all the story left you not thinking on all the bad things that happened, but on all of the jolly, and happy things. You were left to think of Robin Hoods cleverness, and all of his well thought out pranks. I really enjoyed this book, and how thoughtful Robin Hood was depicted. I also really enjoyed the characters They were all very believable in personality. I thought it all wonderful, and if it had not had so many things about the Virgin in it I would have given it a 5/5 but since it did, I will give it a 5/6, just as Bostan did. It is truly a masterpiece...

Chapters 37-39 (RH) pages 588-626

Bostan Said.....
I loved the chapters where the merry men and robin hood were happy and pulling pranks on each other. Even the description of the men in dresses was a funny idea and i thought it sounds a lot like the movie "Men in Tights" staring Robin and men in tights. But i loved that chapter it was very good. And the last and final chapter for today and for the book. It was so depressing, I had high hopes that no one especially our favorite character was going to die. (I thought Edith Heal was not going to kill Robin like she didn't kill the sheriff or Guy who in some tales do have a fatal ending.) I was so devastated when the nun slashed his arm and let him bleed to death. I know it was in some tales but it is so sad to hear it described. So sad.. But other than that death and how he didn't get the girl because he loved the heaven mother to much it was a good book. It is one that i would suggest to those who love adventure, legends, and Robin Hood. I really loved it and the fact that my copy was pretty old made it even more real and special.

Lain Said.......

Oh my goodness, I new Robin Hood was going to die in the last chapter because of the title, but never, NEVER thought he would die that way.By a nun never the less!!!!! Ugggg.... It was horrible, I thought he might be able to die in his most beloved spot in Sherwood Forest, but no, he died in this nunnery by murder... What a horrible, horrible way to die. I am quite disappointed with the ending. It made me very sad. I think my favorite part in these chapters was the trick Midge, Peter, and Will played on Robin Hood. I thought it nice that they made him jolly once again. Over all I thought this book exceedingly good, and will delight in reading it over and over. I highly recommend it to all that love the adventure of an outlaw who has others best interests in mind.

Chapers 37-39 (RH) pages 540-587

Bostan Said.......
I really liked these chapters. The siege was brilliant, we were not exactly taking any part in it but it went good and the evil party's were destroyed. And King Richard is back but is not exactly the way Robin imagined him. And as history goes the king stays in England for a time then goes back to the holy lands.. for years.. doesn't come back....(obviously the king made some foreign enemies...) (He should have gotten away with John) so That is how King John was one of the worst kings in English history. I feel bad for the people because they have a wayward king (lion heart) when a "king" should be with his people. But Robin Hood is a piece of hope and when nothing in life turns out Robin hood was there even though their king was not. I hope i hope i hope, Robin doesn't die...... Because in some tales he does. But i do have a good feeling that it ends well!!!!

Lain Said.........

I liked these chapters Immensely. I thought that the siege went well, but was sad that some had to die. I have to say that I thought that the trick that the King played on Robin Hood was quite delightful, and made me laugh. I really was disappointed in Richard for being so restless, and I thought Robin Hood would have been very sorely disappointed. I was. But it made me proud of Robin Hood with his response, and how he dealt with it. He was understanding as always, and was caring also. I just hope that Robin Hood gets to live to see Richard the Lion Hart live on to fulfill his role as king, and if he does die, i hope it to be of Old age, and not of cruelty. I can't wait to finish the book!

Chapters 34-36 (RH) Pages:483- 539

Bostan Said:

I really liked these chapters, they had a bit of something new in them. I thought the Tournament was a good plan and the sheriff might have caught an out law (Like Will Studley or Midge) if they had not been warned. It was a sad attempt though. And i really loved the chapters of the secret message, the fight/ and deceiving that was in along for the ride. I think those two were my favorite of them all. And still i don't know what Robin truly thinks of Marian. It is that he likes her because she reminds him of the saint Marry, but then she is just a child, and then she is a woman. He should make up his mind because she really loves him, but if he doesn't act fast Will Scarlett is going to snap her up. She did say she could love him in a calmer England. So he should act fast.

Lain Said:

I also really enjoyed these chapters. i was indefinitely pleased with the tournament, and thought it so sad that one of the boys had to die. Today that would have been foul play, and there would have been a law suite, but back then, it was just like "To bad, okay, now on to the next event!" Anyway, I also liked the chapter about the hunt for the message. It was fun and witty. I really do hate Geoffrey, he bugs me..... I am also not sure about Robin Hood's feelings for Maiden Marian. I think he really likes her, but he is kept back from expressing his feelings for her because of "the virgin" which REALLY bugs me, but oh well, I really enjoyed today's reading, and can't wait to read more.

Chapters 31-33 (RH) pages 433-482

Bostan Said......

The first chapter "For the Saxons" I thought was a sad one and i wish Robin had not decided to go away. But that is what men do, they seek glory far away rather than being and finding glory close at home. But the next chapter i really liked it was on his journey and it was a fun tale about saving the poor Saxons from a death by hanging. That was i thought very witty and nice of him to think even of the poor ones. And The third chapter was a good conclusion of his travels and ad-temps, but it was sad to imagine him grey and tired. But they all were good in their own ways. I did also like the last chapter it was nice also to know how much he was happy at his arrival home and happy to see each one of his merry men. (although it was sad about his horse)

Lain Said.........

I was a little disappointed with the first chapter in today's read. Though I did like the other chapters very much. I was very happy with the way he saved the inisent Saxons from hanging. I thought it was very humorous, and don't think I could have pulled that off, for I would have been mad at the page, and started saying some things that would have given me away. But it all worked out in the end. I was very glad of Robin Hoods return to Sherwood. I think he missed it, and I was very sad about the horse. Poor horse, I would have thought he would have had a better reward than death.... but that is how it went. I am glad that Robin is back, and I can not wait to read more!!!!!

Chapters 28-30 (RH) pages 382-432

Bostan Said........

I was happy with these chapters. They may be only three chapters but it is a lot of information and a lot of pages. I really liked the little adventures with Marian in the woods. They were nice and sweet. She is so much different than most female roles. She is independent but also feminine, and she is lovable. I do hope she and Robin end together, but i do feel bad for Will Scarlett. Poor guy if it happens like that. The trip to London was a good few pages and the trip back finished it all off. I loved how Robin fooled the Tinker, but i was surprised when he was beaten again! I know it happens a lot and i should give up, but i had hope that Robin would win. One thing is that i am not so sure of the Tinker he seems suspicious, but i guess we will have to wait and find out. ???????

Lain Said............

I liked it exceedingly well to see Maiden Marian in Sherwood with Robin Hood. I do think she is in love with Robin, but does not like the way that he looks at her. I Liked the part where they captured the Bishop AGAIN! I thought it quite funny. I thought it exceedingly amusing that the Sheriff was fooled again by the same trick. It really showed how greedy he was. Marian is so sweet. I like her alot. I think that Robin Hood is finally falling for her, maybe not. It is hard to tell with him. =) I thought it good that if Marian could not live with Robin Hood, that she live with the Queen, for I like her alot also. I thought all of the chapters amazingly good, and can't wait to read more, AGAIN!

Chapters 25-27 (R.H) Pages: 337-381

Bostan said...

I liked these chapters, they were not my absolutely favorite but they were indeed good. I liked when Will and John asked to go out and have an adventure by themselves. It shows that they really miss the closeness of a small band and that was nice. I can understand, being around a lot of people can have disadvantages. Then the taking on of Peter was a new twist i didn't think he would return in the story but that was nice. And we get to see more of Lady Fritzwalter and that is nice. Right now i don't know if she is into Robin or Will. ????? But i guess we will see later on. I really want to find out!!!

Like the chapters!

Lain Said.....

I thought that these were good chapters. I liked the game that the two maidens were playing on Will Scarlet. It made me laugh. I also thought it very funny the reason why the old people talked to the young ones. It was hilarious! I feel horribly for Maid Marian. I was very pleased when she came to Sherwood. I knew all along that the man on horse back was Robin Hood, how she did not escapes me. I thought it very funny that he led Sir Guy in such a manner. I was glad that Robin Hood is letting her stay for a little while, but saddened that it is not for long. I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Chapters 22-24 (RH) pages 277-334

Bostan Said.................
I liked these chapters, they were very illustrated and Funny. And i like funny. I loved the part when Queen Elinor brought Robin into her castle and had him play in the game. They Won!! which was the best part. And i also loved when they went on the long but dangerous chase, that was fun. And my favorite part of all was when Robin Dresses up in the potters clothes and deceives the sheriff, Roger De Lacy, and Sir Guy. I just loved that part. Well i can't wait (yet again) to read more!!!

Lain Said.....................

I found these chapters all very amusing. I thought it very funny the way Robin Hood dealt with the situation with the fat priests. =) Robin Hood knew that they were lieing, and did not just tell them that and take their gold. Instead he made them "pray" for an hour kneeling, on the dusty road, that they might be sent money. I thought it all hilarious! I am glad that the night did get his money to pay for his land. I also thought it quite funny when Robin Hood was in the archery contest. I deeply like the queen, and hope she lives through out the book. I was glad that Robin Hood got away from John, and liked his harassing manner towards John. I did not like that the Potter beat Robin Hood. In my opinion, to many have beet him. I am glad that he does beat all that count though. The way Robin Hood tricked the sheriff was very humerus, and made me smile. All in all I liked these chapters excessively.

Chapters 19-21 (RH) pages 230-276

Bostan Said....................
I really liked these chapters. My favorite of them all was when Little John became a spy in the castle and how that went. He did a wonderful job in pretending to be not the brightest and the not the toughest. And it was funny to see how Guy and the sheriff took the new and truth that their inside guy was really Little John. That was very amusing. And going back i really thought that Will was in serious trouble and was maybe going to die because i have never really heard of him in very many accounts and i thought this was his end. But i am so happy to find that it ended well!
I can't wait to read tomorrows chapters!

Lain Said.......................

I liked these chapters, though not as much as the last. I thought it exceedingly funny that they stole a priest to sing mass for them, and then deprived him of food. It made me laugh. I also thought it funny and just like Will to get lost in the caves. He just did not want to listen to Robin Hood, so he got himself in trouble. I thought Little John clever to disguise himself and pretend not to know how to fight. I just hope that they save poor Marian. I can't wait to see what they attempt. Can't wait to read more!

Chapters 16-18 (RH) pages 181-229

Bostan Said....................

I had fun with these chapters! They were different than any of the others before because they were mostly taken place out side of Sherwood and all of that. I loved the rest of the coming home chapters, but somehow i thought Robin to be one who never was defeated. Or well only by a just few amounts of people. One thing or shall i say person that i don't really like yet is the Scottish man, he doesn't seem part of the band yet and i don't like him too much yet. But i do say "yet" because i still have hope that i will during the next chapters or so. My favorite part was in the sorry rescue and i thought that was very witty and funny. How Marian really doesn't like the stupid version of Robin and how Will Scarlett is in "Love" with Maid Marian. The triangle is complicated but very funny to read about. And so i can 't wait to read the next chapters tomorrow. ~

Lain Said..........................

It WAS SO GOOD! The more I read this book, the more I LOVE IT! I can't believe I have had this book for so long and not read it. Any way, I liked these chapters a lot. I did not like Robin Hood getting beat again, but I guess that some what shows his human side. The chapter I enjoyed the most was "A Sorry Rescue. I really liked the parts about making the caves their home. It is something I would LOVE to do. To carve out things and explore caves and such. Ahhh all of the excitement.... How I wish I could be there myself. I really liked also the joke Robin Hood played on Will Scarlet. It was funny and very witty. I think this was one of my favorite readings so far and I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE!!!!!

Chapters 13-15 (RH) pages 133-180

Bostan Said......................
I liked these chapters a lot. I really liked in the first chapter how they had the tournament and how funny it ended. I really was glad Robin got away with that disguise. Then The Mass Chapter when Robin gets let down by his band, but they make it up to him by a funny, witty and cleaver rescue. And i really liked the end chapter and how he goes away to sea and how he is very humble and knows his place. He knew he could never be captain, and i thought it was very good of him not to take the job because he could not do it and he knew that. And the adventure with the pirates. And it is nice that he is returning to Sherwood and back to his lads. I can't wait to read the next chapters!

Lain Said.........................

These chapters greatly pleased me. I really like the tournament, though I do wish that Robin Hood was aloud to enter. I did how ever like that Will Scarlet won the battle. I do so ever like Maid Marian. I think it funny her infatuation with Robin Hood. I was greatly startled when Robin Hood was captured when attending Mass, but also really liked his escape. What startled me more than his capture was his want to leave Sherwood Forest and his band. I did not understand his desire at all, and am glad he is back to his own self again. I really liked when he was on the fisherman's ship. It showed how hummable he was and it also showed his heroism. Well all in all it was stupendous. Can't wait to read more!

Chapters 10-12 (RH) pages 85-132

Bostan Said.................
I thought these chapters where nice and funny. The Friar is always different and he is quite spirited and well just a good fighter in this tale. He is funny also. The story so far is being made up nicely and i can't wait to read the middle and finally see how it all ends. I liked the fact that Robin went alone on a private mission and he played the fool well. And De Lacy is a character all his own, being two things at a time. I also really really liked the dialogue between Robin and De Lacy, it is as they are joking but serious at the same. Both sarcastic and both ready to kill the other dead. In the end they take each of the others comment well.
I can't wait to read more!
Lain Said.................

Parts of these chapters made me laugh. I thought it hilarious that this fat friar was so good at fighting. I also thought it rather laughable that he had a pack of dogs at his command. And twice through these chapters did Robin Hood get beat up from a soon to be new recruit. The first with Friar Tuck was quite fair, the second being of coarse undoubtedly, unfair. I do really like Friar Tuck. I like the whole band of outlaws really. Each seam so believable. Like I could have meet them myself if I was there. I am glad that they threw Maid Marian in there to add some feminine charm to the mostly masculine story. All in all it was a very good read, and I already recommend this book! =)

Over all Rating For (Bloody Jack)

Bostan's Rating...
I usually don't give every book a 5/5, but i really liked it and i actually loved the main character Jacky and did not grow board of her so i give this book a 5/5. It was to me SO good but it was also i think better than a 4.

Lain's Rating........
I NEVER give books a 5/5, but have to admit that this one deserved it. I think it was amazing, and is one of the few books that has made it to my all time favorites.

Chapters 41-46 and ending (BJ)

Bostan Said...........................
Wow! i really liked this book. It was much better than i expected! I loved the characters (The good ones anyways) and the captain wasn't so bad after all. In life i can tell that boys get away with more things and more times people are more rough in how they treat them. And girls don't do as much or get away with as much but that is because more people try to be cautious of you and worry more about you. The girl has to be watched over and save...... The boy... Awe, let him get into trouble. It can be good and bad at the same time. And i really saw the real life contradiction in this book, because when Jacky was a boy she was treated more roughly and stuff but once they knew she was a girl every thing changed. It can be nice, sometimes.

But i really liked this book for its conversation and how it was worded and i liked how much action was in it but not making it look over worked or fake. I really would suggest it to any one that likes the sea and ship adventures. Especially if you like a laugh.

Lain Said.................................

Oh my goodness! I REALLY LOVED this book!!!!! I really did not expect it to be as good as it was. I think it has found its way into on of my favorites. It was very realistic when it came to life back then. It gave you a personally look into the way boys and girls were treated. I really would recommend this book to almost anyone. Especially if you like historical fiction. At first I was quite disappointed at the ending, but I realized it was needed for a sequel, so I did not mind it any more. I can't wait to read the sequel! I almost want to read it now, but know I must wait, which is fine. All in all I LOVED this book. It is a definite MUST READ!

Chapters 36-40 (B.J)

BOstan Said....
I was SO worried when she got to go up on the kite. Every gust of wind really made me worried but i didn't expect her to go a sail'in. I now she will survive but i don't know how, i can't wait to find out! I am glad she is safe though and i like from the sound of it her kip and the water fall. I totally forgot that back then not many people knew how to swim. I just expected them to because they were on a ship. But i am glad she is learning how. And i thought the part where she is flyin over the water was funny, she was preparing herself to die, but when she found that she might not need to she named the kite the "hope" and sailed her way to the land. And my second favorite part was when she got really excited for the clam shell, that was funny. I would never have thought to use it for that. Maybe a bowl but that idea was smart. I really liked these chapters!

And i hope when and if she gets rescued by her mates i hope Davy won't have told every one that Jack was a girl.

Lain Said....

I really enjoyed these chapters, but they made me worry. I thought it was hilarious when Davy found them. I thought that Jamie would have a completely different reaction to what he did. When Jacky went up in the kite I admit I was not all that worried. Then when the tree got pulled out of the ground I was shocked. I thought if anything went wrong, the rope would brake, defiantly not the tree being pulled out of the ground. I new she had to get out of the predicament, because there is a sequel, but I had no idea how she was going to do it. I was very relieved that she found a good landing place and that she was able to land. She seemed to handle the whole castaway thing pretty well. I am also glad that she was able to contact the others on the other island. I can't wait to read the next chapters.

Chapters 31-35 (B.J) (Thursday)

Bostan Said............

I really liked these chapters yet again!

I love how she is being a good girl. (Heheheheh)

My favorite part was when they go to Kingston Jamaica. And the whole Jamiey and "the island girl" that was cute and funny. It was a small part but i laughed about the donkey in the bushes. Then the fight with the Pirate! I was worried that another friend was going to die but i am glad that, that never happened. And the leg on deck was pretty weird, poor Master, he has to wobble the rest of his life. It was weird but it must have happened when two ships fight. Things go flying and stuff and if you get in the way, well.....
And i can't wait to read the next chapters, i want to see what happens next!

Lain Said.............

I really liked these chapters also.  I loved how much Jamie was in love with Jacky. I think it is so sweet. I also thought it was hilarious with the island girl. Those boys are such dogs. (hehehehehehheheheehehehe) I was so scared in the pirate fight. I knew Jacky was not going to die, but I was so worried about Jamie. When I found out that no one else died, I was so relieved. I am happy with the way that these chapters have played out. I can't wait to read the rest!

Chapters 26-30 (BJ)

Bostan Said.....................
I was very happy/worried when Sloat fell over board. I am glad something happened to him after the "Talk" But i was seriously worried what was gonna happen to Liam. I sort of knew she wouldn't die but the thought of her getting in trouble or her sea dad dieing was sad. I like him (her sea dad) he is really nice, i hope if he finds out that Jack is a girl he won't be to mad or stuff, but i don't know he might already know something. That chapter when he was quiet and looked at her says something or nothing. I think these chapters have been filled in the most with action. I really like this book so far! I am also happy that Jamiey wants to marry her, that is so sweet. And i wonder how the boys are gonna take that she is a girl, if they do find out. I hope it is as funny as when Jamiey found out.

Lain Said..........................
I was feeling so bad for Jacky. She was so alone. But that was much better than having a "talk" below decks with Stoat. He was horrid, and I am happy that he is now gone. I was also worried about Jacky when she might have been hung, but was so happy when she was not. I did not see that coming with her and Jaimy. I new she liked him, but I always thought he would find out in the end, and then it would be to late, or something of the sort. I am glad they are so happy with each other, and I think it is sweet that he told her that he wants to marry her. I think these chapters seem to be going faster and faster, and I NEVER want to put the book down. I can't wait to read the next chapters. =)

Chapters 21-25 (BJ)

Bostan Said...........................

I don't like Bliffil and Sloat really creeps me out. (But i am glad that it does in a way. It keeps the reader in suspension) I was worried for Jacky at the fight and after i thought the Doctor was gonna find her out. Good thing he didn't. I have a feeling why Jaimy is shunning her and i think the boys are because He/she seems to becoming different.
(It is weired how boys treat their mates)
But i am glad that she is making a dress, and can't wait to see what happens next.

Lain Said................................
I liked these chapters, but some of it was kind of sad. I felt bad for Jacky when she got beat up by Bliffil. I REALLY don't like him, along with Stoat. I felt bad enough for Jacky when she was missus ed by Stoat, but then being shunned by the boys, that is horrible. I feel SO bad for her. She really cared about them, especially Jaimy. Well I am hoping that something happens to redeem her. Can't wait to read more!

Chapters 16-20 (BJ)

Bostan Said..............................
I really really like this book, i like a lot of books but the ones that i don't want to put down i really like and love. I like how Jacky went to the woman on the island, a few jabs and she knew Jacky was a girl. I was really sad when Benji died that was so sad, but i am glad they took the time to mourn, that's nice. I have seen Tattoo's being made and that looks Painful! but i can't even imagine getting one back then. That would have been very hard and painful. I think we all knew that she was gonna get a tattoo, because of the second book, Curse of the Blue Tattoo.
I have tons of more good points in this story but i might run out of pages. I really like this book.
Can't wait to read on....

Lain Said..................................

These chapters made me laugh. I am glad she finally knows that she is not "dieing". I think that it is funny that they all got the same tattoo. I also laughed when one of them passed out, when getting his. I am glad that the pirate did not get Jaimy. I would feel the same way Jack feels about her new nick name Bloody Jack. I would hate it, even though it is supposedly "honorable". I think it is HORRIBLE that that is the reason why they keep the ship's boys with them in the smaller boats! All in all I am beginning to LOVE this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chapters 10-15 (BJ)

Bostan Said............................
I really liked how she tried to find out what was happening to her in class. Even though it didn't work. I agree i would freak out, and defiantly think that i was die'in. (That guy is getting more and more freaky) It is cute that she is in love with James, i have to admit i like him the best out of the boys. He is silent at times but would stick up for someone and he would stick up for his boys.
I thought the chapter when she stuffed her pants was SO FUNNY. She is well rigged! I am glad that she can sew, it means that she is more lady like than she thinks. And i can't wait to go on.

Lain Said................................

I really liked these chapters and thought them very funny. I new this problem was coming, but I also thought it funny that Jacky had no idea what was coming, and also no idea what it is. It made me laugh, but I guess if I had not been told, I would have thought the same thing. I also think it is funny that she asked the "question" in the class. I wonder if the other boys find out, what they will think. All in all it was great, and am happy that she has found something she enjoys, which is to sew.

Chapters 6-10 (BJ)

Bostan Said.....................................
I liked the main story now as we are getting more into it. I loved how it explained the poop deck. Since i have done research on ships and pirates i knew they had one but i never knew how it really worked. It is a strange procedure. I like Jacky because she is strong but also a girl and can be girly too. I like her like that. The boys don't sound so bad either. I want to learn more about them.
Oh and there are some creepy people too, some mystery.

Lain Said.......................................

I really enjoyed these chapters about her first few days on ship. I always wanted to go on an old ship, just to she everything being done. She was in some close scrapes, and almost got caught, but she is okay for now because she is small, and not, ummmmm...... developed into a women yet. I just worry what will happen if she stays on the ship for any amount of time.

Introduction and Chapters1-5 (BJ)

Bostan Said........................................
I found these chapters real in how some people can be cold. Today people can be the same, even towards children. I liked Mary AKA Jacky the moment i begun the first chapter. And i did know that Charlie was gonna die but i didn't think i would like him as much as i did. Even though i knew he was gone i still wanted him to live and wanted hope that he did. I am glad that she left though, and it is soo very true how people view girls and boys. Even today.

Lain Said..........................................

I really liked this into, and the first five chapters. I think they went by fast. I really hate Muck! I was really beginning to like Charlie, A LOT, but I guess some good things have to end. I really like the charitor Mary, soon to be Jack. She is independent, and quite smart. All in all I really liked it, and I can't wait to read the next chapters!

Chapters 7-9 (R.H) Pages: 50-84

BOstan Said............

Very good reading, i say! It was more action pron during these three chapters and it was nice to see it (Read it i mean). Robin and his band loosing Will and trying to get him back. Good old Robin Hood! And the more "in" conversation with Robin and Little John about the sheriff and Guy. Guy seems different in this version and i don't think it is that bad, its nice to read a different version. I like how they made these chapters spaced in time from the prier ones and so Maid Marian is a bit older which is nice. And i can't wait to read more about her and see how she is. Oh and i liked the surprise in Chapter 9, Robin meeting his match. I like the chapters so far. They are witty and smart!

Lain Said.............

I really enjoyed today's reading. I really enjoyed the balance of conversation and fighting. It really was displayed right before you eyes, (if you have a good imagination, that is.) What makes me smile every time I read this book is the witty yet elegant dialog. I LOVE the way the speak. I really like Will. He seems to be the kind of lovable misfit of the band. He just got caught up in everything so much that he did not even notice anything else. That's how I get if I am really into something. =) I also liked how heroic he was when he was told he was going to hang. He really did not cower, or whimper, but went to it bravely. I thought it was hilarious about Robin Hood meeting his cousin both dressed in scarlet! I also think that it is funny, that any of his new recruits that we have witnessed being recruited have all fought Robin Hood first, before realizing that it was him, and then joining his band. It makes me laugh. Well I can't wait to read the next chapters!

Chapters 4-6 (R.H) pages 23-49

Bostan said..........

Now we are moving more into the story line and i think i am getting to know the characters more in depth. I learned something new, i never knew that Guy had a son in some versions And i really really want to know who Goldfrey or is it Godfrey (I think that's his name) is. And I want to know how old Maid Marian is. So far my favorite part of these chapters are the fight and dialogue of Robin and John Little AKA Little John. It is getting better, can't wait to read more.......

Lain said............

I really am starting to like this book. I did not like the whole "Mary" thing, but thought it was needed so that he would never kill if possible. I really liked what he id at Guy's son's party. It really showed what a cowed Godfrey is. I also thought that the banter between Little John and Robin Hood was funny, it also showed Robin Hoods weakness. If he lets emotion take over, in the end he will lose. I myself think Robin Hood would have won if he did not let emotion take hold. All in all I really liked it!

Starting Robin Hood Chapters 1-3 (Introduction Op)

Bostan Said........

I like how i can imagine that i was their, either in the forest or in the crowds. The author most defiantly put so much effort in creating a story from just ballads. And i was really surprised by the death or should i say murder. The one thing that caught me in the beginning is that they are not in Nottingham or his name is Robert Hode. I suppose all the story's that i hear is a bit different ( like how Cinderella is told each time differently) and i think Robert is the Robin for the 1170 century and Hod for Hood. But i can't wait to read more and find out when or if he gets or receives the name Robin of Locksley.

Lain Said............

I thought it was written impeccably! I thought it might have been a little hard to follow, because of some of the older English, and of it being written not recently. But the author, did magnificently in making it so easy to understand, and making it so that we could really feel like we are there with Robert, who's mother gave him the name of Robin. I can't wait to read more, and to see how his character develops!

Overall Rating For (False Colours)

Lain's Rating..................

I would give this book a 3 1/2 out of 5. I really enjoyed it. I am very glad I read it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes books that take place in the Victorian Era. =)

BOstan's Rating...............

I give this book 4/5 because i really liked it. It is something that i would read over and over again in the future.

Chapters 19-22 (FC)

Bostan Said..............

I really liked the end of this book, the conclusion really was well thought of. It did not end on an exact event or the end of a important scene, but i could see it played out in a movie.( The camera coming off from a lower zoomed shot then slowly zooming out and the shot getting higher, and then the credits) I very much liked the ending because it showed how highly she loves her two boys, and how highly they love her. (But i still am not fond of Sir Ripple.) I really like books that end with a nice conclusion and don't go to far off in the future so that you can depicted a future with your own mind. Very well done i say.

Lain Said................

I really appreciated the ending of the book. They concluded it well, and rapped up all the lose ends. I extremely appreciated all the conversation in the book. I my self find that Sir Ripple grew on me. I think he was generally misunderstood. All in all I loved the book, although some parts were slow, which some people can not stand, I am not one of them. I think most books worth reading have at least a few slow spots, and if you are not ready to accept that, I don not think you should be reading at all. (Not really, if you are that kind of person, you just need to chose your books very carefully.) I thought the book was superbly written.

Chapters 16-18 (FC)

BOstan Said.........

These chapters i think are very important to the story in the least because they can't get to badly caught for their plan to work. I thought Sir. Bonamy is a bit knocked off his rocker, but he does seem to have a nice soul towards his LADY. But the thing that caught me is that Kit is OK with him being ever his mothers admirer, and the way that Kit and Evelyn blame their father. They treat him as he weren't even related, but the whole 'father should have payed off mothers debts' is i think wrongly directed, because it is even stated that Lady Denville never told him of the large percent of her debts. So how can he blamed for everything he probably was not the nicest man but he deserves credit in the least. And about her marrying him to young and stuff, it was only her mistake because she didn't have to marry him then nor ever. But back to Bonamy, if i was Kit or Evelyn i would be not be very happy with him hanging around trying to steal my mother. I would not have it. =) So i do feel beter when Evelyn says that he does not like the way Bonamy acts, when he calls his mother his pretty.

But i did like the whole adventure on trying to keep their secret in the shadows and it was a funny conversation with Kit and his brother. And i loved the way how Lady Denville persuaded her sister into leaving for the greater good, that was funny.

BOstan~

Lain Said.............
I myself don't mind Sir. Bonamy. Sure he is not exactly good to look at, but he fully devoted to HIS lady. I think it very nice of him to pay for Kit's mothers debts, and not in the least offensive. I am the kind of person, who will take a kind favor, if it is prevailed upon me, but of coarse I will NOT hint for one, or ever ask for one, unless we are VERY well acquainted, and only if they offer. But all in all I thought the chapters excessively charming, and loved the discussion. I also thought that Sir. Bonamy, did get a little to offend, about the whole loaning her money thing. I grow to like Cresssy more and more with each reading. I do hope everything works out, and am happy with today's read.

Chapters 13-15 (FC)

Bostan Said...............

I got a few laughs during these chapters. I liked the response of Cressy, i really thought that she would be mad or at least giving him a lecture when he found out that she knew what he knew. But i suppose she knew of his secret for a while and had time enough to be mad in her way. And the return and explanation of Evelyn's travel, for some reason i thought he was chasing after something, more likely a girl. :)

But this explanation showed that Evelyn did not totally intentionally forget of his duty and that he has good virtues. I don't know why i was that naive to be tricked, i don't know if you were tricked on that response as i was.

But it was a turn when Evelyn said that he took a fancy to the the maiden of the family who took care of him when he had a very bad accident. I would have thought that Evelyn would go on not knowing of Kit's fancy to Cressy, that would have lead the story into another direction. But i really liked reading these chapters and the next chapters could not come any sloooower.

BOStan~

Lain Said.......................

I also extremely liked these chapters, and was happy that Cressy knew, so that is one of the nots that is out of the tangle. I was also so sure that Evelyn was out following some girl, but in fact he wasn't (sort of.) i am glad he is okay. patience sounds like a nice and beautiful girl. I just hope all goes well. can't wait to read the rest!
